The company have released a great product. Our problems do not seem to be impossible to solve. This is why we use the subscription model: we pay and you can develop the product and release new features. They expect to receive answers to the questions. They believe that if there is a problem, it will be solved as soon as possible.
We don’t tell that we have found a job and will pay later. Each of us pays you our own money every month. Moreover, you are using a subscription model. Sometimes I think if we didn’t reportabout it, dev team wouldn’t even know about it. When there were problems with VOX servers, the problem was solved for days. Guys, where is your monitoring? If the server is unreachable you need to get alerts in the messenger within 5 minutes. And the only way to tell the developers about it was Twitter. Sometimes even the site and forum didn’t work at such moments.

But one day the covers disappeared from all the files at once.Īnd sometimes the server retruns 500 (server error) and it was impossible to download or upload files. Generally the problem was with new files. Sometimes they disappeared on iOS, sometimes - on Mac, and sometimes on both of them. There was also a problem with album covers and artist art. This was not very convenient, but I didn’t want to wait for help from support a significant time. By this time, I have found a workaround - I converted a file to a different bitrate and then re-uploaded it. However, six months later, I was again in the same situation and my files were again handled manually by support. But I decided that the support wants to solve my problem until a fix is released. It is not scaled for big amount of users, it is not reliable, and it requires human participation. For me as a develoepr this solution doesn’t looks great. When I contacted support, they told me that this was the known problem and suggested to delete the track manually on the server. I don’t know what the problem is - I tried everything: renaming the file, changing the name of the track and album, but it didn’t help. There were some minor issues that I thought the developers could fix quickly.įor example, when deleting and reloading the same file with different tags, the app still displayed the old tags. Actually I didn’t have any serious problems with the app.

I used it on Mac and iOS, I was ready to pay for a good product and it seemed like I was in the target group of this product. Plex track radio just seems a lot better.I used the VOX for 5 or 6 years. I listen to Roon track radio a lot and wouldn’t like to mis it.
To me the lists in Plex are more enjoyable and more logical as a list. Here are two examples of the radio function in Roon and in Plex. I suggest and hope that Roon focusses on what is their core business and keep it the best in the market. Roon is still superieur when listening to music with my Hegel and Harbeths via HQplayer.īut I do think that Plex made a gigantic step with Sonic Similar and surpassed Roon in that area. I don’t wish to replace Roon with Plex as I think they are two very different pieces of software. Also Roon loses connection sometimes or pauses long between tracks, while Plex has never done that to me. Roon loses connection when i pause the music, but when I pause with PlexAmp and turn on my headphone a few hours later, PlexAmp immediately starts playing from where it left off. In the way I use it, PlexAmp is better than Roon for use with headphones and bluetooth. Hmmm, wish that was the other way around. Yesterday I fed the PlexAmp track radio choices in Roon to make a playlist. I want to like ‘track radio’ in Roon, but I often get strange tracks, so I change to my playlists. I think that Roon is depending heavily on Tidal or Qobuz features, maybe even to much. Must say I don’t have a streaming subscription like Tidal or Qobuz. I enjoy it immensely with the PlexAmp app and headphones. It is spot on and chooses similar sounding tracks in a small bandwidth. With 10k lossless albums accessible to both Plex (pass) and Roon (lifetime), I can say that Sonic Similar or Super Sonic is amazing.
